Position Purpose:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs all inspections of trainers.

Repairs C-5 and KC-135 ATS’s Aircrew Training Devices (ATDs) and related equipment.

Operates ATDs at all aircrew and instructor positions to evaluate operation of all systems.

Analyzes and repairs discrepancies noted during preflight or reported by instructors or aircrew members.

Visually inspects complete simulator (computer and peripheral) for loose connections, leaks and defective components.

Accomplishes preventive maintenance functions on a continuous basis and replaces defective components as required.

Performs overhaul of components as necessary.

Coordinates maintenance activities to achieve maximum utilization of the trainers.

Trouble-shoots malfunctions and isolates defective systems.

Repairs, replaces, calibrates, adjusts and modifies trainer and computer components.
Bench checks unserviceable units and determines need for adjustment or disassembly.

Disassembles trainer assemblies and detects faulty parts and replaces with new or locally manufactured parts, reinstalls required equipment.

Installs redesigned or additional components, reroutes existing wires or adds new wiring circuits, make program changes and loads program into the computers.

Performs final calibration and functional tests.

Education or Formal Training:
High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a civilian or military basic electronic program are required. BSEE or BSME degree is highly desired.

Experience:
Three to five years experience as a flight simulator technician or equivalent is desired, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex non-routine problems. Experience should include component level test and repair of microprocessor controlled equipment.
