Boeing-owned Alteon is gearing up to provide training for 787 customers by preparing pilot and maintenance suites at its Seattle and Miami bases. The training organisation’s president Sherry Carbary confirms there is already a 787 full-flight simulator at Seattle, with software being continuously updated as the aircraft goes through its ground test programme. FARNBOROUGH (England): Toulouse, France-based turboprop aircraft manufacturer ATR has teamed up with Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) to open a new training centre in Kuala Lumpur. The centre would be jointly operated by MAS subsidiary Firefly, and would be equipped with a full flight simulator developed by Canada-based CAE, ATR announced at the Farnborough Airshow, an annual international aerospace exhibition, here on Tuesday. Russian carrier S7 Airlines is to receive two Airbus A320 full-flight simulators for its training centre at Moscow Domodedovo Airport. Both will be supplied by manufacturer Thales. Boeing says it expects its 787 will handle so like a 777, and the cockpit interfaces will be so similar and intuitive, that a five-day differences course and some time in a fixed-base, touchscreen simulator will suffice for converting 777 pilots to airline operations in the new aircraft.
