Thales' Key Training Tool for B787

As well as the systems being fully interactive via its touchscreen interfaces, the mechanical controls allow the Thales fixed-base simulator to be "flown" using a traditional Boeing control yoke, rudder pedals, power levers, flap and spoiler levers as they will be in the 787, and an autopilot mode control panel with conventional knobs and switches as planned for the 787.

Composite Cockpit Simulator Shells

ADVANCED COMPOSITES Group (ACG) of Derbyshire, UK, has signed a repeat contract to manufacture aircraft cockpit simulator shells for Thales, an international electronics and systems group.

ACG will supply European Fighter Aircraft (EFA, Typhoon) cockpit simulator shells ready for instrumentation and ancillary equipment for Thales Full Mission Simulators and Crew Trainers (FMS and CT).

Alteon to Offer Full 787 Training Suites in Seattle and Miami

Boeing-owned Alteon is gearing up to provide training for 787 customers by preparing pilot and maintenance suites at its Seattle and Miami bases.

The training organisation’s president Sherry Carbary confirms there is already a 787 full-flight simulator at Seattle, with software being continuously updated as the aircraft goes through its ground test programme.

ATR, MAS to Open Training Centre in Subang

FARNBOROUGH (England): Toulouse, France-based turboprop aircraft manufacturer ATR has teamed up with Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) to open a new training centre in Kuala Lumpur.

The centre would be jointly operated by MAS subsidiary Firefly, and would be equipped with a full flight simulator developed by Canada-based CAE, ATR announced at the Farnborough Airshow, an annual international aerospace exhibition, here on Tuesday.

Air India’s Pilot Training School to Buy Aircraft Simulators

Hyderabad, June 6 The Central Training Establishment (CTE), the premier trainer of pilots, engineering and cabin crew staff, will acquire five flight simulators to boost its facilities and meet the growing demands.

The simulators, which will train pilots in Airbus and Boeing aircraft, would cost the CTE, part of Air India, around $60 million (each simulator is about $12 million).
